Using crocheted and knitted items as photography props.

So many photographers use knitted and crocheted items for their photography studios. Esp in Newborn photography. I'm not alone in this. I have used blankets (as shown in the photo below), hats, cocoons (those are fun), and scarves in photos. You can use these in many different ways. I'll link you to a couple of flickr photos i've found that are some great examples. These two woman or my inspiration for new crocheted/knitted items for newborn photography.

Pictured below is a sweet little 2 week old boy. He was a dream on the second try LOL. His grandmother made him this blanket. It was so big and nice and fluffy I just loved it. Perfect colors for a boy.

Now I'm going to link you to some pictures i've found from some of my favorite newborn photographers using knitted and crocheted items.

Tracy Raver : Kelly Ryden

There are some pretty cool thinks these two have made I just love them. From wraps to hats to even these cool hanging things. Man I would love to get my hands on one of them. So cool.

But that is about the time I have for today. Time to get my own kiddos into beds for naptimes and a little lunch. Tomorrow I'll be back with something of mine and hopefully a newborn too.

My Yards of Yarn

So with this first post i will give you a little bit about me. I am first and foremost a mother of 5 wonderful children. I have a 7 year old girl, 4 year old boy, 3 year old boy, almost 2 year old girl, and 10 month old girl. You will see my 10 month old modeling a lot of my projects. She's got no hair so I feel obligated to make her stuff for her head even though she's in a thing of where she dont like them right now. I'm also a photographer. I love pictures and my kids love them too.
I will not be sharing patterns on here very often. I might share one every so often. I just really don't wanna get in trouble with other people and their own designs. I do have a project to show you all. Its a cute little bear hat for my 10 month old. It was actually a test run for a hat for a newborn shoot I was gonna have but not sure if I am anymore so who knows. Anyway here it is.

I didn't really follow a specific pattern for this. I looked at several hats out there and several already free patterns out there (i'll link a couple at the end). They weren't exactly what I was looking for so I just kind of winged it on my own. You can do this hat in both knit and crochet. There are several patterns for free and paid that are for both and here are two of them i've found and really like.

If you aren't already you NEED to be a member at www.ravelry.com. It is an AWESOME site. I really love it. Not only for crocheters like me but knitters as well. Its AWESOME i tell ya just AWESOME.

Another thing I will be doing here is asking a fellow raveler to be kind of featured on here with her designs so be on the look out for that. Sharing free patterns that I find that really spark my interest as well as my finished project from that pattern. I've got one already lined up just gotta finish the project LOL.

I hope you like my little part of the world. have a fantastic day.

Hugs ~ Jeannie
